Past forecasts
I
was right about the waiting for February,
at least in the world I inhabited. There was
the little wait, related to Mercury’s three-week retrograde period, and then there was the Big Wait, related to Saturn and Neptune’s
interaction. What was so challenging about these is that they conspired to blind us as to what is
ahead for us in our lives. We could become distressed if we do not pay attention to inner reality,
which tells us that the universe will take care of us, and we can trust the Unknown as long as we
stay calmly centered in the current moment, alert for opportunity. While this process is not
complete, we are near the end of the time when our vision is so obscured as March begins.
March is a different story altogether. As advertised, it comes in like a lion, but I’m sure it
will not go out like a lamb. No sooner do we sigh a breath of relief as February’s end-of-month
pressure cooker releases than we face dramatic turns of events as we enter a new eclipse period.
Eclipses Place Us Between the Worlds.
If you recall, eclipses are powerful and dramatic in their effects. New situations emerge
that capture our attention, often enticing us into the unknown. We can feel the ground swell
beneath us to create new realities that were perhaps only dreamed of before. As March starts, we
can already feel the energy of the lunar eclipse, since it occurs on the 3rd. (See Chart A.) A lunar
eclipse is a full moon on caffeine. You will remember and feel its effects long after the day it
occurs if it contacts something important in your chart. In this case, if you have planets or points
around 13° Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, or Sagittarius you fall into this category. Even if you don’t (or
don’t know), observe what you experience on the 3rd especially around 3:20 PM Pacific Time,
because its impact will be farther reaching than your typical full moon.
Eclipses carry the energies of any planets with which they connect. In this instance, we
have an ensemble piece, with Jupiter and Uranus playing the lead roles. Jupiter makes a highly
useful contact to the eclipse points that will blast doors open that once were closed. Jupiter is in a
very auspicious — but powerful — position right now. It packs a wallop, but that can be a good
wallop if you have nothing to hide. Jupiter is all about the truth right now, as it will be for the
rest of this year. Uranus reveals what is hidden, emphasizing Jupiter’s tendencies. (Expect a
verdict in the Scooter Libby trial around the time of this eclipse.) They are both planets of
opening — doors, opportunities, ideas, consciousness. Be prepared to be surprised, and in
generally a pleasant way.
We start March with many factors in our lives not completely available to us. We have
unresolved situations, even some where conflict or disagreement exists. Much feels hidden, and
we are forced to wait to accomplish some small but important tasks before we can proceed with
our big plans.
Once the eclipse hits, our vision will start to clear. You could actually notice this in the
few days before the eclipse, since important events can occur as the energy of the full moon
builds. This energy is likely to be “mixed” with the energies that linger with us from February —
the Mercury retrograde and the Saturn-Neptune interaction. For example, as the Mercury
retrograde started, I noticed that my Honda Civic Hybrid (with only 46,000 miles on it) seemed
to be having a transmission problem. I observed carefully over the past two weeks of the
retrograde with growing consternation. Since this is in my experience an unacceptable life span
for this part of the car, I contacted Honda to see what they could do for me. They wanted me to
take it in for diagnosis, which I did on Tuesday, and my suspicions were born out (that is, the
hidden became revealed). They then offered to repair it for me through their “Good Will”
Customer Satisfaction Program. This involved some negotiation, but I did get them to cover
100% of the repair. This will occur during the release period of the lunar eclipse.
While this might be a “normal” type of occurrence for a Mercury retrograde and full
moon, its ramifications go deeper. It is causing me to change course in my plans for this vehicle.
Where I was once planning to keep it for 7–10 years, now I plan to keep it only for another two
years. I will not pass it on to one of my sons as I had planned, since it is too high-maintenance.
This type of change of plans or direction is typical of an eclipse experience.
So, my vision was clouded, but over the course of the Mercury retrograde and the new
lunar cycle, I became aware of a problem that needed to be addressed. I did not know how I
would solve the problem or what the outcome would be. It did not occur to me to try to get
Honda to cover the repair until a fatherly figure at a transmission shop suggested it to me. A
solution emerged that worked for me by following through on the opportunities as they presented
themselves. In the end, all was revealed and my vision with respect to the situation cleared.
A Longer Time Line Is Possible.
Not all situations are so easily penetrated and expelled. If your situation has more of the
Big Wait (Saturn-Neptune) energy associated with it, there’s a longer time line that you are
working with. In that case, the situation will open up more gradually over the next 2 months (by
the end of April). That doesn’t mean that more immediate results will not occur but rather that
the doors that open up to you between now and then lead to more doors and opportunities rather
than an end point.
The Solar Eclipse Creates a Nexus of Power.
While the lunar eclipse releases power,
the solar eclipse starts a new nexus of power in
our world — a place from which growth
emanates. Like the “star nursery” in the
Pleiades (where stars are born), we too have the
opportunity to give birth to new structures and
experiences and allow them to unfold in our
lives. While this is true of all solar eclipses, it
is especially true of the one occurring on the
18th. That’s because the lead actor in the
planetary play of the day is Pluto, the Great
Transformer-Magician himself. (See Chart B.)
Although Pluto is challenging to the Sun-Moon
conjunction of the eclipse, it has harmonious
contacts with Venus and Mercury. This says
that, although events may be challenging, if not
overwhelming, communication and good faith
in relationships will result in good outcomes.
Since the solar eclipse is a new moon, it
is a seed-planting time, and like the lunar
eclipse, the growth cycle is longer than a single
month as with other new moons. Solar eclipse
growing cycles are at least 6 months long, but
can last as long as 18 months and be felt for
years after.
In this instance, we are planting the final seeds of a Plutonian growth cycle which began
in 1995. We will be substantially done with this cycle by the end of this year. This may be as
much a time of looking back as looking forward, but since an ending is also a beginning, it’s a
good time also to consider what we may be able to create in the next Pluto cycle, which will last
until 2024. Since 1995, we’ve been focused on education and the spread of information, truth and
beliefs. Starting next year, we’ll be focused on the application of these in structures at all levels,
from individuals and groups to governments and religions. But I get ahead of myself, and our
needs for the month of March.
If you begin to feel an urgency about completing your goals by the end of the year, there’s
a reason, and it has to do with the ending of Pluto’s cycle. Even as you move into action, you are
probably feeling as though there are some missing pieces to the puzzle you are trying to solve
this year. This is a sign that some of what you hope to accomplish belongs to the next cycle. So
relax and enjoy life!
Forgiveness Is Key.
To respond to the energies of Virgo-Pisces well, we need to be able to move on to the
next thing. We stay stuck if we can’t let go of our mistakes. This means that we must forgive
ourselves. To do this of course, we have to admit to our mistakes. However, once we understand
that life is a work in progress and we’re learning all the time, it’s easier for us to let ourselves off
the hook. Worse than this is not acknowledging mistakes, because then we are doomed to repeat
them. If there’s someone in our lives that we find it hard to forgive, it helps to remember that we
too make mistakes. This makes it easier to be compassionate toward the other person and move
toward a more harmonious bond.
No Need to Rush
If you are in a holding pattern right now, you could get a boost to your activities with the
lunar eclipse, then another when Mercury returns to direct motion on the 7th. If you are dealing
with really big issues, this is a sign that you are working with the Big Wait. Chances are, you’ve
done a few things in a slap-dash manner over the past year or so and need some time to get it
right; this is your time. In fact, as perfectionistic as Saturn is, you will need to go back to the
roots of each obstacles you encounter and “comb out” the knots of the situation. This sounds like
frustrating work, but it is actually a relief, because you are likely to find out that what you’ve
been fighting for is validated. Right now, you’re full of doubts, but those doubts will be
dispelled, and you’ll feel much lighter (as well as enlightened) by the end of April.
This is when you get the space and time to learn. In the madhouse that we call modern
life, we can learn to value and take advantage of these lulls in planetary activity to rest and
regroup. There is a universal law called the Law of Rest. This law states that when we want to
empower our efforts, we need to set our
intention, and then come to a place of perfect
rest and peace in our center (or internal
balance-point), away from or above our
emotional states. This activates the forces of
the universe on our behalf. We have to, of
course, plant the seeds with our own
appropriate action; however, once those seeds
are planted, coming to the place of rest in our
self is the most potent way to manifest our
goals. (This is the law of the Chariot in the
Tarot.)

A key time in this process is March
22–25, with the 15th playing a role as well.
(See Chart C.) There’ll be plenty of pressure
to act then, but your job is to sort out which
are the right situations to act on. Future dates
that will tie into this process are April 2–4 and
19, and (contributing to a free-flowing
resolution of the matter) May 9–12.
Jupiter & Saturn Bring Greater
Stability.
If you looked carefully at Chart B (the
solar eclipse), you may have noticed a blue
line connecting Jupiter and Saturn. This is an extremely auspicious contact, and one we can rely
on to smooth the bumps this year. It will support a stable economy and a return to modest growth
in the housing sector. This is good for all business dealings and long-term plans in a general way,
although these two planets will not directly support the timing of agreements.
More personally, it promises financial stability, especially if you can take advantage of
the time around the 16th to plan or support long-range goals. Applying your mind in this direction
will help you to clarify what has been foggy for so long.
This is the first of three contacts between Jupiter and Saturn; the others are on May 6 and
January 20, 2008. This gives us a good, long time to build a stable foundation for our activities.
Love, Love, Love.
The traditional love planets, Venus and Mars, are not in harmony this month, but that
doesn’t mean we can’t use other planets to connect with our loved ones. The sun and moon form
harmonious bonds several times during this, as every, month, as do the Moon and Saturn. The
Sun and Saturn support connections and agreements after the 19th. Of course, any time can be
used to create balance and harmony if we apply the right consciousness to it.
Waves to Ride
The best wave this month comes from Jupiter and Saturn. They are in incurable harmony
for the rest of the year, with a peak to draw on around the 16th. After the 19th, optimism and
action abound as the Sun harmonizes with both Jupiter and Saturn to create a fiery grand trine.
This heralds a period of bliss and joy that we will feel in some way through April 19.
March Brings a Blossoming of Awareness.
After the difficult times of the past 18 months and the challenges of February, we could
come away feeling disenchanted with life, confused about our direction. However, there is
always a new wonder around the corner, waiting for us to discover it if we remember to notice it.
March presents many opportunities for us to notice these delights of life on this planet, as well as
to create them ourselves. I think it’s important to remember that we never know when the next
fantastic thing will happen that will change our life forever in a powerfully good way. Open your
heart and consciousness to what new delight lies ahead, and you lay the right groundwork for
success and happiness.
