Past forecasts
I
feel buoyant and excited as I look at what April has in store for us. If you’re intrigued, read
on!
A great shift in planetary emphasis is taking place in the heavens right now. The
planetary saga is always about who gets together with whom. Our most memorable
experiences inevitably stem from times when these clusters are prolonged and they impact our
birth chart. We are just now completing such a grouping in the fixed signs of the zodiac (Taurus,
Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius).
The End of the Fixed Era
These signs work with the sustaining or stabilizing universal force. When the planets are
focalized there, we are challenged to sustain our efforts, to find greater stability, which frequently
means changing things in our lives that are unstable. The trouble is, as humans we tend to hold
on to things — frequently the very things we need to let go of or are the least stable. Since
August 2005, we have been finding out what we need to let go of because it doesn’t support us.
During these times, the energies fluctuate in their intensity, and during February-March
we experienced one of those periods. The good news now is that this period is essentially over,
and with it many of our challenges are well on their way to being resolved. It’s like we’ve
reached the mountaintop, and we can see the whole vista before us. Now we can see the best path
forward, make a plan, and move ahead — and it’s all downhill from here on out!
As any mountain hiker knows, the downhill has its challenges too, but you can inject
knowledge and experience of the trail into the downhill trek. Taking this out of the metaphor,
April is a time when we can make plans and they’ll work this time. The timing will unfold over
the next 6 months, but you’ll take a big step around April 19, when Saturn returns to forward
motion. You’ll have to exert extra effort to take full advantage of the opportunities that arise
now, but it will be worth it!
Golden Opportunity
There will be more good to come out of your situation(s) than usual, because there is an
unusually good pattern in the heavens right now. (This time the planetary grouping works for us.)
If you look at Chart A, you’ll see a big blue triangle in the center. That tells us that a grand trine
— a generally beneficial pattern — is currently in the heavens. What’s more, two of the planets
(Sun and Jupiter) are in dignity, so our actions are more likely to turn out even better than we had
hoped. When Sun is in Aries, it is able to act in both a courageous (Aries) and altruistic (Sun)
way. When Jupiter is in Sagittarius, it encourages us to act with wisdom, in ways that benefit
more than just ourselves (more altruism, humanitarianism). When planets are in dignity, events
just turn out naturally better than expected unless we block that from happening in some way.
Jupiter by itself can lead us to a rosier view of our situation than really exists. However,
Saturn is in the mix as well, encouraging a cautious approach. If we can overcome the
weaknesses of Saturn in Leo (its detriment) of being too narrowly focused on “what’s in it for
me”, we can truly create a synergistic win-win, where all parties are far better off with each other
than separately, even if everyone got what they wanted.
The last time we had a pattern anything like this was in spring 1948, and then it was not
as potent as this pattern is now for several reasons. If you were born at this time, it is a HUGE
wake-up call for you, and a great time to get in touch with your birthright or adjust your path if
you feel you’ve strayed from your chosen ideal course. Hillary Clinton was born with this
pattern.
The Best Time to Take Advantage of This Is . . .
. . . April 6–9 and 15–16. After that, the Sun leaves Aries, but you can use the Moon to
complete the pattern on April 24–25. I cannot overemphasize the value of this planetary
opportunity, and I hope you get (or create!) the chance to use it. Although this opportunity period
generally lasts all year (and that’s the time frame over which the situations we create will unfold),
but it will repeat itself in early May (with a bang!) and January 08.
The Down Side
It’s hard to imagine a down side with this pattern, but if there is one, it lies in taking too
much for granted — not reading the fine print, not doing “due diligence” but trusting that
everything will be okay. With Saturn involved, the stakes are too high and the responsibilities too
great to be glossed over. The potential for incredible success is very real, but there is risk
involved, as there always is in situations where you have to step outside your comfort zone.
That’s the rule of thumb with both the Sun and Jupiter. The danger is that Jupiter makes
us feel so confident that we don’t feel a need to look at the details — and maybe we’re just a
little afraid that it’s too good to be true, so that if we look at the details the opportunity will
evaporate. The Sun has the confidence to move forward and is not afraid to examine the risk
more carefully. Through the Sun, we gather our courage by exploring the situation and moving
forward in an informed manner — at least that’s the potential. When Jupiter muddies the waters,
we have to use our wisdom to override the rosy glow of “everything will turn out fine, I just
know it.”
In terms of those situations we are completing then, this will be an exciting time. We may
even feel giddy with the possibilities that are opening up to us. Write them down! Anytime your
life seems too mundane or difficult, look at what you accomplished this year. You will look back
at this time as a milestone in your life, a turning point toward better things.
This should also work in the world of international relations and politics. Even though by
some measures things look bad now, there will be a silver lining. For instance, the situation with
the British sailors who were taken by Iran may be the opportunity for a new dialogue with Iran to
open doors to a new resolution of the nuclear crisis the world faces with this nation. For one
thing, this incident has exacerbated the political divides that exist in Iran. It has brought out the
worst in Ahmadinejad, and it may be that others in his government may demand that he moderate
his policy toward the West.
Out with the Old, In with the New
Just like Roseanne Roseannadanna said, “There’s always something.” Once the fixed
pattern gives way, we can see more clearly (and deal with) the mutable pattern that has been
gathering steam since the end of November. From now through the end of the year (and in
another phase, through July 2010), we will get the opportunity to deal with what is incomplete or
unintegrated in our lives. When an experience or pattern is unintegrated in our lives, we say one
thing but do another. We are less effective (even ineffective) in that area of our life where this
“split” exists. When we are split, we are not aware that we are split. One part does not know
about the other part, although others may be able to see it quite clearly unless they have the same
split.
A split in our nature can result from experiences of extreme opposites in our past that
were never reconciled, such as when a parent says one thing but does its opposite. As this pattern
leaps to the forefront (starting April 23), we will see where we are split, where that split needs
mending, and how we engage in extreme behaviors or beliefs that should be moderated.
The way that we will encounter this is quite different from the fixed pattern, which
brought to us chronic conditions that just wouldn’t go away. The mutable pattern announces
itself through the unexpected. This does not mean that you will experience unpleasant change —
miracles fall into this category as well.
Peak periods for this occur at the end of April (a preview period), then during Gemini
(May 21 – June20) and Virgo (August 23 – September 22). Look to my next forecast for a
timetable covering the next three years.
This is a pattern is operating in a big way that will unfold in the coming 3 years. It has
from time to time grabbed our attention, and it is never far away from our full awareness. This is
because it has been in our faces in some form since 9/11. The effects of passionate belief, of
zealotry, or extreme religiosity and how it can twist rational thought to its purposes are now
being discussed at the water cooler. There are huge issues implied by the surface manifestation of
terrorism — ones like poverty and domination — that if we solve them as they must be solved
for we and our planet to survive, they will bring true resolution and balance in the world. If we
can do what we know needs to be done to save our planet (for instance as described by Al Gore
in “An Inconvenient Truth”, we will also be balancing humanity’s differences and lifting up
those most in need. This will uproot the need for terrorism at its depths.
April’s Flowers
In April, all the year-long planetary cycles have just begun, resulting in an overall glow of
newness and optimism. All of the planets’ cycles are in their opening phases except for Saturn.
Saturn is past the halfway point in its cycle (begun in July 06, completing August 21), winding
down rapidly. We feel completion energy as on the 19th, it returns to forward motion (the last
hurrah before its cycle ends).
Jupiter is changing its phase on the 5th. Its cycle is ramping up as it begins its 4-month
retrograde (backward-travel) period. We get to retrace and recycle our experiences since January
9. This is good. We get to re-do them if we need a chance to do a better job. Who doesn’t need a
second (and then a third) run at golden opportunities?! We will notice a (or more than one) new
task, project, or focus which we must assimilate into our lives over the coming four months. By
its end we will have done so, and we’ll have taken a step forward. With the added benefits of the
grand trine mentioned above, this period is greatly potentiated. If you can find the right balance
between risk and security, you will benefit immensely by this time next year. Other key dates in
Jupiter’s cycle are June 5 and August 6. Events related to the thread of your life that Jupiter rules
will occur on or near these dates, activating and advancing your process. To figure out what
situation(s) in your life are related to Jupiter, look at what happened for you around November 25
and April 5.
Pluto turned retrograde at the end of
March, so its effects are still unfolding during
April. Truth is, as always, the key concept.
Where Pluto is involved, the truth will be
revealed. The better you understand what’s
really going on in a situation, the better you’ll
be able to deal with it. You may find yourself
the bringer of truth to others if your
understanding of the situation is deep. To
determine what situation(s) in your life relate
to Pluto’s cycle, look at what you have been
experiencing on or around December 18,
March 19, June 19, and September 7.
Uranus and Neptune will be active in
May and June. We are still in the discovery
phase of their cycles, which began on March 5
and February 8 respectively. Keep track of
your experiences for these dates to discover
the life threads related to their cycles. For
more on Neptune’s energy, see the March
forecast.
Venus & Mars — Breaking through
Barriers
If you look at Chart B, you’ll notice that Venus and Mars cross each other’s paths at the
same time as they connect with the Moon’s Nodes and Uranus. This pattern begins gathering
force on the 11th, but it intensifies on the 19th and peaks on the 23rd – 30th. Their interaction
suggests intense and powerful interactions here on the earth plane for several reasons:
1. The nodes, Mars, and Venus will re-trigger the eclipse of March 3. This means
that, whatever you experienced on March 3, you will notice further developments
now.
2. However this ties in with the eclipse, it will carry a relationship theme that
focuses on how much you value yourself because of the Venus-Mars involvement.
3. Venus, then Mars, will also contact Uranus on the 26th – 28th. This will tie in with
startling experiences we had on or around March 20.
4. This will feed into related, possibly more dramatic experiences on May 6, 13, and
June 18.
Communication is key — not just talking, but real communication. Typically, one person
will play Mars, the other Venus. The Venus person will be eager to talk, but the Mars person may
have difficulty verbalizing his/her feelings. The Mars person may find their feelings to be
overwhelming, or they may project an element of fantasy into the relationship. Their experience
may be essentially spiritual. Venus meanwhile will be curious and need to experience firsthand
the full range of whatever they are focusing on. A possible scenario is a relationship in which
obstacles to trust exist. They came out during the eclipse on the 3rd but were not resolved. Since
then they’ve been dormant while other situations attract attention. However, by the 19th, the
energy is increasing toward resolving the unfinished aspects of the situation. This will be the
topic of discussion in the last third of April, culminating on the 19th, 22nd, and 26th – 28th. There
will be a theme of surprise, if not shock, surrounding a previously hidden truth. As noted in #4,
the resolution of this situation may be drawn out for a few months, and that’s good, as it gives us
time to adjust to new circumstances and create what we want during the breathing spaces.
A Golden Wave to Ride
In keeping with this month, we get a golden wave to ride when it’s good to sign contracts
and engage in negotiations. Not only does this bode well for resolving world conflicts, it also
helps us to create greater harmony in our own lives. By using these opportunity periods, we
smooth out times that might otherwise be challenging or conflictual. Often choosing the right
time to do something means that we encounter the right person with whom we will be in natural
harmony so activities flow smoothly throughout our interactions with each other. This golden
opportunity period begins on the 10th and continues through 21st. After that, you can tap this
energy on the 24th and 25th.
Remember to breathe. A deep breath tells your body that everything is okay. It instantly
reduces stress and pain. Don’t let habitual stress overshadow the opportunities that lie ahead.
April holds great promise — may you find the gold at the end of your rainbow, whatever it is!
