After the suppression of energy through the quincunxes in May, the opportunities for action that come in June will be refreshing. The emphasis continues in the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces), activating your life if you have prominent factors in these signs. This is a continuation of activity from early May. However, the big story of the month is the growing stellar congregation in the cardinal signs, which opens the door to a time of golden energies whose light dims at the end of August.
Early June’s Grand Trine
The month starts with a grand trine in the air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius). This facilitates quick action and clear thought, and it’s especially auspicious with Mercury in Gemini, the sign of its rulership. It casts a positive light on many situations, and we will be able to move forward on many things. The time to use this combination extends through the end of September, although after the 8th, it becomes less prominent in the heavens and more elusive to foreground it in our affairs.
Pluto Peaks Liven Things Up.
There are a few surprises in store as Mars, Mercury, and Sun contact Pluto on the 2nd, 7th, and 13th. These types of contacts propel us into changes that we have long sought — or dreaded.
Although the Sun and Mercury make these contacts every year in June, Mars does so only once every two years and irregularly. Because of the difficulty humans have in dealing with Mars’s self-oriented impulses, its contacts with Pluto are usually accompanied by reports of violence in the news beyond the ordinary. In our own lives, the experiences are usually more clement, because we have the ability to manage our own energies more positively and thus direct these powerful forces into desired results.
We are all usually working with Pluto, which, as the slow-moving planet, is the driving force in these contacts. Pluto represents a long-term process of growth and progress, especially one where we feel compelled to act or where we have to make deep changes in order to get what we want. For example, if it’s in your 10th house, you’ll be working toward a transformation in your career life, perhaps learning how to handle greater authority and responsibility in that area and possibly having difficulty with autocratic (“plutocratic”) people trying to control your life. Of course, this won’t go over very well, even if it did in the past, because Pluto has turned on your “control detector”.
To see how these events will weave their magic in your life, check back to see what you experienced last December, especially around the 13th. This is when this yearly round of Pluto activity began. Other key dates include January 3rd and March 26th.
Time to Realize Your Dreams
When Jupiter returns to forward motion, our plans do too, on the 5th, and the golden period begins. However, you may not exactly feel like taking action then, even though you recognize that there’s a reward for doing so. The lazy, pleasure-seeking streak in us will come out, even as we’re challenged to override it to get the carrot. The best time to take action is now through the end of August. Related dates for June are shown in the table above with the pale orange background.
This ties in with the beneficial contact that is building between Jupiter and Neptune. Jupiter’s expansive, enterprising qualities dovetail with Neptune’s vision and sense of inner guidance to permit us more openings than usual to manifest our dreams in the real world. This makes spirituality chic, culturally acceptable, and we’re likely to see this reflected in the entertainment industry, both in terms of what’s aired and what enters production now.
THIS is the time to start enterprises and take direct action, because next year the flow will be stickier (although better suited to creating lasting results). The best-case scenario is to use the opportunity this year to launch our plans and next year’s energies to stabilize them. If we mellow out too much this month, we may miss out on some of the opportunities that can arise during this golden period. We’ll have plenty of time to take more leisure after July 1st.
Six More Weeks of Saturn in Cancer
As Saturn begins to leave a sign behind for good, we receive signals from the culture that people are beginning to get its lessons. The fear-mongering of the political right in the US doesn’t seem to be working as well; the politicians that have broken rules with impunity in the past few years are no longer able to do so. Although the Democrats had nothing left to give away when the filibuster negotiations came up, the alertness of the American public to this situation surprised some, as did the willingness of some centrist Republicans to act independently of their right-wing taskmasters.
The Summer Solstice
When the summer solstice arrives on the 21st, it resets the dominoes to fall in a new direction. By casting a chart for the time it comes in Washington DC, we can see how it will impact the US. This looks to be a wetter than usual summer in the east, with more extreme storms than usual dumping more rain in less time. There is also a build-up of strength within the populace and the party out of power. Much can be gained by the US if we will cooperate with foreign powers over the next three months. The economy will benefit, and the dollar’s value will improve.
We can celebrate Litha, or Midsummer, the time when the light reaches its peak. From now on the light of the Sun King is dimming, but we can enjoy its glory while it lasts. This is also the time to affirm our positive uses of this year’s anticipated harvest and to begin to think about how we will make it through the dark, internalized time of the winter.
Don’t Even Think of Forgetting Uranus.
If you were tempted, you’ll be rudely awakened around the 14th, when Uranus changes directions to begin its 5-month retrograde period. Events you experienced around February 25th, May 15th, and May 31st will tie together with what arises now. You’ll be able to see a thread or theme that, if pursued, will bring benefits to you at the end of the year. When we ignore our need to make changes, Uranus can throw surprises our way. It’s not something we can second-guess, but by being as true to our heart’s path as possible, we take out “Uranus insurance” to mitigate the possibility of shocks to jar us awake,
The Mercury-Venus Dance
Mercury catches up with Venus as the month waxes, until in the latter half they are in lockstep with each other, triggering the planets with a one-two punch. This culminates on the 27th when they conjoin, in the meantime adding to the drama of the month a sense of urgency due to heightened levels of activity. You won’t be calling this a dull month!
Another Yod
There is another yod pattern this month, one that has been repeated every June since 1998. It is activated on the 17th – 23rd through Mercury and Venus, and again next month with the Sun’s transit through mid-Cancer. This yod demands that we look back at what we did in May and make adjustments so that we can get what we want when activations come in August. We are challenged to look inside at what drives and guides us spiritually to get the best results. Insights will come through our instincts, our feelings and emanate from our sense of truth.
Every planetary experience can be used for good and benefit if we follow our inner guidance and make use of the tools and signals around us, such as astrology, to sharpen our senses. At no time has this been truer than in June, when the planets give us half a chance to do so — all we have to do is create the other half.
