WHEN JUPITER ENTERS A SIGN, it fills it up,
just like any celebrity does when
entering a room. When Jupiter entered
Pisces on January 17, we had that expansiveness in a sign that Jupiter rules, one of limitlessness.
With Uranus already in the sign, we began to experience an infusion of rarefied energies into our
consciousness. It has been uplifting for some, bewildering for others, as it has expanded love and
feelings of unity. The power and value of this influx is not to be underestimated.
Jupiter-Uranus: Magnified Miracles
This is the energy of magnified miracles: Uranus connects us with the buddhic plane, from which
come intuition, insight, mind flashes, images of the invisible world, awakenings, and miraculous
experiences. Jupiter is the Cosmic Magnifier, enlarging in some way all that it touches. Although
these planets have been coming to meet for many weeks, they both change signs to Aries (Uranus
on May 27; Jupiter on June 5) before this occurs. This shifts the energy unexpectedly in our
consciousness, so that what we think will happen suddenly twists away or swerves in a new
(better) direction.
While it is wonderful to experience such energies for many, others find them difficult, because
they also push against obstacles and blockages in our lives, bringing them up for release. While
in individuals they can be directed very beneficially, in the populations at large (cultures, nations,
etc.) they are challenging. Such is almost always the case with those in positions of leadership.
Leaders and others driving world events often adhere to the mediocre “norm”, although
individuals among them frequently respond to the higher nature calling from within.
When Uranus was in Pisces, Jupiter also magnifies our ingenuity, our inventiveness. This effect
has intensified as Jupiter reached the “orb” of Uranus, and it’s not a moment too soon. If we ever
needed to be inventive, this is the time, when oil is spewing forth from a broken well in the Gulf
of Mexico and no one knows what to do about it.
The realities of events like the Gulf oil spill or the volcanic eruption in Iceland can bring us down
to earth with a hard kerplunk! This is Saturn speaking to us from its position across the heavens
from Jupiter-Uranus, reminding us that while we may wish to move ahead with the new energy,
but the past still exists in our lives as the structures that we built long ago which are still with us,
from oil wells to homes on a small volcanic island.
As these planets interact now in Aries, we can see in sudden and startling contrast what needs to
be eliminated from our lives, individually and as a species. Deep-water oil wells may be one of
them, unless sufficient safeguards can be introduced to ensure that this type of incident doesn’t
happen again; and measures are available to permit us to clean up our mess.
Our Own Metaphorical Oil Spill
We may each have a metaphorical oil spill in our own lives — something we need to clean up
but don’t quite know how to do it. This is where those energies we have been receiving come
into play. They are the answer — or rather provide it. When someone invents something, it
comes through as an inspiration from the Cosmos into a receptive mind. Jupiter-Uranus opens
the doorway to these inspirations a little bit wider than usual, making it easier to receive such
inspirations. We all get them and apply them in ways appropriate to our understanding and focus.
So there is a direct benefit to tuning into the Cosmic energies we are receiving, and getting good
at filtering them through our senses so that we can use them in our daily lives. We get guidance,
answers, insights, comfort, abundance, support, healing, and an infinite number of other
qualities.
Everything into Aries
Well, it’s really “only” Uranus and Jupiter that are going into Aries, but that’s enough! Much has
been written about this long-anticipated astrological event. It is true that there is a shift in
consciousness when an ingress (movement of a planet into a new sign) occurs, and with Uranus
this is significant because it does so only every seven years.
At the time that Uranus (or any other planet) enters a new sign, we get a vision of what purpose
our true self wants us to fulfill during the time it’s there — for Uranus a seven-year project. In
Aries, the universal purpose is to manifest the true self instead of the ego, and ego manifestations
that we have indulged in previously will no longer be so easy to get away with.
Uranus is a planet through which we are led to experience our true nature whether we want to or
not. Through Uranus, we catch glimpses of the inner reality as mind flashes and images, as if a
window were opened just for a nanosecond. If we resist the process or we have strayed far from
the path of authenticity, it is a rougher process. It’s as if Uranus’s energy “snags” on our rough
edges. The more we attune to our inner truth and live by it, the more smoothly our interaction
with Uranus will go.
We each will find our own unique expression of authenticity, as exemplified by the house Uranus
is transiting and the planets in our chart that it is contacting. For the coming year, Jupiter will
help us along with this process, giving us a window on the future. As it travels each degree in
Aries, it will divulge clues about how we will experience Uranus when it comes to the same
degree. (Of course, we can make adjustments if we don’t like what comes with Jupiter.)
We Are All One.
As Jupiter enters Aries on the 5th joining Uranus, we enter a new phase of entrepreneurship and
pioneering energy. While there are certainly misuses and challenges that can be associated with
the planets that will be gathering in the early degrees of the cardinal signs over the coming
months, good can and will also come out of this. Humanity is endlessly creative and has the
capacity for great adaptation. This is never more true than when Jupiter and Uranus come
together, and in Aries their capacities for this are augmented in our nature.
These planets come together three times in the coming months, the first on the 8th in Aries, and
the other two in Pisces. As this occurs we will see the situation with the oil leak become
contained, and it will spark the beginning of humanity turning away from oil as the solution to all
its problems. It is unfortunate that it takes this extreme an event to bring about such a sea change
in human consciousness, but it might just possibly save us from ourselves. Through Jupiter and
Uranus in Aries, we are learning that we are all One Being, affected by events wherever they are
on the planet. It’s hard to imagine this as a miracle, but if it changes our collective direction away
from future disasters, it truly is.
Jupiter only moves to 3°24' Aries before backing up (by apparent retrograde motion) into Pisces
again. It will return to Aries after its retrograde to complete its travel through the sign next year.
This emphasizes our application of vision into action. What we can see in the inner landscape is
what we can create; we can create it if we persevere through obstacles, growing and changing
along the way. In June we get a focused experience of Jupiter-Uranus in Aries, especially around
the 5th and the 21st–28th (the Lunar Eclipse, see below).
Beyond Human Capability? The Deepwater Horizon (Gulf) Oil Accident
The Gulf oil accident involves multiple planetary
events, evidence of its complexity and the
intricacies that must be unraveled in order to
resolve the matter. Key among these is the lunar
nodes being on the Midheaven (MC)/IC axis in
the chart (Chart B). This ties events relating to
the spill to the eclipses, especially those coming
up on June 26 and July 11. Because of the
degrees on the angles at the time of the explosion
and collapse, the eclipse on January 4, 2011 is
also significant.
However, within the planetary patterns, the more
important appear to be Jupiter-Uranus and
Saturn. Uranus the planet of sudden events and
Jupiter the magnifier, both in the sign of the
oceans and large liquid bodies (Pisces) at the time
of the incident, suggest such a process. Saturn’s role as that of a limiter would be a blessing if it
were functioning well with Jupiter and Uranus, which it is not. (That is, humans are not
functioning well with it.)
As Saturn returns to forward motion (May 30), we now know that BP does not know how to stop
the flow; the “top kill” method did not work. Now they turn feebly toward containment.
However, as Uranus then Jupiter enter Aries, the human dynamics will change, and human
ingenuity will come more to the forefront. In desperation, the insulated and isolated leaders in
their ivory towers may find solutions among those who are more in touch with Cosmic energies.
Chances are good that there will be more sharply toned interactions and more vigorous
approaches to the solutions. There has been less than optimum cooperation between the
corporations and the Obama Administration, and this shift in planetary energies may improve
that, because President Obama will decide that he has had enough waiting for BP, Transocean,
and Haliburton to take action as if it mattered. Although the situation may yet be brought back
from the brink of disaster, it is clear that it will be an on-going issue for many months, if not
years.
The Planetary Tension Continues.
The planets are currently tightly clustered around the late-and-early degrees of their zodiacal
sign. As the last two weeks of May transpired, the planetary tension mounted through a series of
contacts that scarcely left time to draw breath, let alone integrate the energies. This has its pluses
and minuses: When we have time to integrate, we can place our experiences in the context of our
life as we perceive it; however when we don’t have that time, it is natural to flow with the
energies more fluidly, and we may have a more inspired response when we work with them in an
unconstructed way. It gives the ego less time to create its image of what has occurred and
develop a strategy for reacting.
In June, this pattern continues. We are still incorporating Saturn’s station direct and Neptune’s
station retrograde (which occurred May 30 and 31, respectively) into our lives. With Saturn, we
ask, “What have I accomplished since last September?” The situation(s) in question would have
ramped up in mid-January. With Neptune, we ask, “What do I need to surrender to?” This relates
to circumstances that came to our attention in mid-February and now call us to grow and change
even though we may feel overwhelmed by the nothingness of the experience.
Our Neptune Process Begins.
With Neptune, we are invited into the invisible world, from which all reality emanates. If we
experience enigmatic or inexplicable circumstances, they all make sense in this invisible world,
because that is their source. Where our world is not harmonious, we have created it in the
invisible realm. We have obstructed Cosmic Harmony from manifesting in that area.
We can use the Neptune retrograde to recreate these aspects of our reality by removing the
obstructions in our consciousness — the misunderstandings, fears, masks, strategies. By the end
of the retrograde (November 7), we will be in a new world that is in harmony with Cosmic Unity.
Between now and then, subtle and gradual improvements will occur as we unblock our path,
until we have built the new harmonious reality in our lives.
If you have any doubt about what you are working with related to this process, observe your
experiences on May 31 and June 4. On the 4th, Mars opposes Neptune and brings our “project”
into sharp focus.
A New Opportunity to Clear Obstructions
Also on the 4th, Wounded Healer Chiron enters its retrograde period from its new position in
Pisces. As with all challenging planetary events, we will experience difficulty if the concentrated
energy of Chiron that comes through now encounters any blocks or snags in our consciousness
that prevents its easy flow through our energy systems.
This effect is augmented by the fact that it is Chiron’s nature to break through blockages — in
fact, it seems to seek them out. During this Chiron retrograde, we learn more about bridging the
gap between thought and feeling, with the emphasis on feeling. The Cosmos is conscious, and it
is mostly a feeling consciousness. In order to live in harmony with it, we have to become attuned
to our feelings.
In Western culture, this can be an unfamiliar no-man’s-land, but we have to start where we are:
With Chiron’s help, we can release the masks that block our ability to know our inner feelings
that lead to living in Cosmic Harmony. This may involve thought processes, emotions, and
physical symptoms or ailments. By observing our experiences around June 4, we can get in touch
with this healing process. This retrograde lasts November 5, with a peak on August 21.
Mars Pierces the Heart of Our Wound.
Mars has been in Leo since October 16. This is a very long stay for Mars in a sign and is due to
its retrograde (apparent backward motion). If you have planets in the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo,
Scorpio, Aquarius), this has been a substantial source of learning since then. Mars will leave Leo,
entering Virgo on the 6th. It immediately finds Chiron across the sky in Pisces. While on the level
of ordinary consciousness Mars represents ego expressions, in the world of spiritual
consciousness it pierces the veils between ordinary and universal awareness, so that the truth is
revealed.
For this reason, we will enter a week that has the potential for deep opening and revelation of
what’s real as Mars interacts with Chiron, and Mercury gets in on the fun. These planets will find
whatever rough edges we have in our consciousness that “catch” on their energies, preventing a
smooth flow. If they encounter no rough edges, we’ll find this period stimulating for our
creativity, and we may be called to help others find their energy balance.
If you have birth placements in early mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces), this
period will be more significant for you. For all of us, we will be focused on integrating what we
have learned into our lives — manifesting our inner growth as external factors that benefit us. It
is a time of great energy and potential, but also a time to take great care. Accident and injury is
possible under these contacts.
The dates for this are June 6–11, but the experiences that we encounter then will play out over
Chiron’s entire retrograde period, since they are “encoded” into our consciousness at the time
that Chiron begins its backward travel. This is another “observe and learn” period: If we
experience pain or discomfort, we know that we have obstructed areas that are being activated.
We then have a choice as to whether we will clear what rises to the surface.
Time to Lighten Up.
Mercury has spent the last two months in Taurus clearing out the densest energies in our
consciousness. It finally makes its move into Gemini on the 9th, and events begin to move more
quickly again. This may produce some startling events early in the month as it makes contact
with Chiron and Mars to form a T-square that lasts through the 11th. The square it makes to Mars
on the 11th is the last of three and ties into events on/around April 4 and 25. The final steps in a
process that began around the 4th are now taken. Since these planets have changed signs, the
conditions surrounding what happened in April have changed considerably, and you may have an
entirely different (and more accurate) perspective. Because Chiron is involved, this can
precipitate a healing experience.
Saturn Stands Alone.
Once Jupiter joins Uranus in Aries, Saturn will be alone in late Virgo where there was for many
months lots of activity. As it picks up speed moving forward, it too will leave its position in
mutable Virgo behind for good on July 21. In the meantime, we can still finish up our
reorganization and clearing-out process.
Transformation Happens.
The biggest event of the month is the Lunar Eclipse on June 26. (See Chart C below.) This comes
at a time and position in the heavens to maximize the transformative processes in our lives. If
you have been working on a deep change, you will see a shift in your life at this time. Where it
might otherwise just be a glimpse of what’s to come when Pluto’s retrograde ends in September,
this time it will result in concrete changes of some sort. Eclipses are one means by which real
change manifests in our lives.
Lunar Eclipses are really powerful Full Moons because the Sun and Moon are aligned by both
longitude (sign degree) and declination, so that they line up with the Earth. This causes the
shadow of the Earth to fall on the Moon and “eclipse” it. This symbolically dims the Moon’s
effect, but this is only an appearance. Instead, it deepens and intensifies it. We often feel this
intensity in body, mind, emotions, and energy field as the eclipse occurs; then we see it expressed
in our lives as events unfold. The events we experience are born out of what we put into them —
the result of what we are creating with the focus of our consciousness.
The reason that this eclipse is so powerful is that the Sun reaches its opposition to Pluto at
virtually the same time. This is already a powerful time. With the eclipse focalizing the
transformative processes of Pluto, you can bet that we’ll see some amazing changes come into
form. Processes that you began around Christmas and became more focalized in early April will
be set to evolve at this time.
We can maximize the benefits of this process by holding firmly to our vision of what we want to
manifest in our lives. It is the process of inner transformation that brings this about — governed
by Pluto and brought into our waking reality by the eclipse. Events around May 20-23 tie into
what we experience now. Relationships with others provide a context for decisions we make
now.

Sometimes we have to have faith that our inner light is showing us the way forward, even when
external events give no indication that we are anything but crazy to believe in our path.
Impatience is the dream-killer. It is born of fear and can be the hardest thing to endure, but it is
what keeps us from accomplishing what we really want. Always and in all ways, it helps to live
in the moment. Then we know that everything is all right.
June In Depth
June 1-4
The planetary stations (Saturn’s, Neptune’s) are still grabbing our attention as June opens. We’re
feeling a release of pressure related to projects we started last September and which intensified in
mid-January. Take the time to appreciate the progress you’ve made. Your tasks are not yet
complete, but the results are beginning to show. You know that your basic approach is working.
At the same time, don’t give up on the future you’ve been creating in your inner world. Even
though it seems like it must be, it’s not yet time for it to appear in the world around you. You’ll
understand more about why that is true as events unfold over the coming five months.
June 4–11
Healing processes get moved to the front burner now, and the pain of release could be acute. We
may want to go into avoidance, and sometimes that is the best approach. As Mars, Mercury, and
Chiron connect, we may feel scattered, overwhelmed, or bruised by circumstances. The effect is
strengthened and deepened by Chiron’s standstill, which occurs on the 4th as it turns to go
retrograde. Now in early Pisces, we get to see now what we’ll be learning in the coming five
months of its retrograde. It’s a good time to observe our responses from our calm center — and
to go inside to find it if we have lost it. Events around the 11th tie into those of April 4 and 25.
On the 5th, Jupiter enters Aries, and renews its contact to Uranus. This juices up the level of
excitement and activity in our lives, perhaps creating a sense of urgency about where we’re
headed and when anticipated changes will occur. Persevere through this for the best results. In
the meantime, pour the extra energy into your ongoing projects. On the 8th, Jupiter reaches
Uranus for the first of three times, finally bringing to a peak the inspirational-entrepreneurial-inventive energies of these planets. Pay attention to your experiences around this day (as well as
the two more times that they connect in the coming months), because they will feed your own
inspiration and inventiveness over the coming 13 years.
June 12–20
The New Moon shifts the energy, and we
get some assimilation time, a break from
major planetary events. It’s not that
nothing is happening in our lives, just that
there are no new major plot twists to
integrate into our lives as the Moon waxes
toward fullness. Relationships experience
mild improvements under harmonious
contacts to/from Mars and Venus.
June 21–28
Although the effects are often felt as
much as a month early, we can call this
the eclipse period. During this time, we
will see important developments in many
areas of life in the world around us, as
well in personally. There will be a change
in the way that the Gulf oil leak is
behaving, as well as new perspectives and
possible solutions. Most importantly, this presents an opportunity, while the ego is disrupted, for
those involved in resolving the crisis to come together in collaboration rather than hiding in the
bushes with their guns at the ready. Some things are more important than our fears. For us as
individuals, the disruption of the ego that occurs on the eclipse will bring new insights and cause
us to open a new chapter in our lives. This could come as a relieving recognition that we need to
move in a substantially new direction, or that it’s time to do something that we’ve been waiting
to enact. It is the right moment when we feel a resonance between head and heart that propels us
forward. Events during this time may have a feel of “destiny” to them. They will free us, but if
we are attached to anything, we will feel the freedom in a more shocking way. Even if we don’t
recognize it at the time, what happens now falls into the category of the miraculous.
The heat begins to build when the Sun enters Cancer on the 21st (4:30 am PT). This immediately
lights up all the cardinal energies, especially because they (Jupiter, Uranus, Pluto) are at such
early degrees in their sign. These planets form a rough T-square (rough because it never
“perfects”, so it is more muted than it could be even though the Moon carries the energy from
one planet to the next) in Aries, Cancer, and Capricorn. (See Chart B.)
Also on the 21st, the Sun reaches Uranus, an event worth noting in its own right since it signals to
us unconsciously that its energies are beaming to us in concentrated form since its retrograde is
about to begin (July 5). Between now and July 5, Uranus will put us on the path of the true self in
proportion to how much we are off the path and how much we are able to manage and remain
stable.
On the 23rd, the Sun contacts Jupiter, reiterating our experiences from around the 8th. As we sink
into the energy of the eclipse, we feel the universe draw near, around us like a blanket, protecting
us and guiding us through this passage.
On Friday (the 25th), Mercury enters Cancer and starts the process that began on Monday (the
21st) all over again, but with the mind involved. We’ll be able to solve, communicate, and
connect where before we acted from our heart. Today the Sun also reaches the exact opposition
to Pluto, the culmination and halfway point in their yearly cycle with each other. Now that
Mercury is there, it’s easier to make the head-heart connection that is essential to resolving all
matters in life and being in Cosmic Harmony.
In the evening, the Moon enters Capricorn, and the eclipse energies swing into full gear. The
partial Lunar Eclipse is exact at 4:38 am PT, with about half the Moon covered. Because both
Mercury and the Sun are involved in connecting with the Moon, Nodes, Jupiter, Uranus, and
Pluto, thought and feeling merge in consciousness to bring transformative insights that lead to a
more powerful manifestation of our life purpose and path. This will be a turning point moment
for many people in their process of bringing forth a new, longed-for direction in life.
This pattern abates rapidly after the Sun and Mercury conjoin early on the 28th, around the time
the Moon moves out of Capricorn. Both these events reduce the transformative thrust of the
energies we feel.
June 28-30
By the time we wake on the 28th, the planetary tension will have reduced dramatically, and the
remainder of the month is energetically calmer, allowing us time to integrate our experiences
before Uranus stands still and begins retrograde motion on July 5.

Miracles don’t always feel like miracles when we experience them, especially when we are too
close to them to see the benefits that they are bringing. It helps to remember that the universe is
conscious and knows more than we do about what is right for us at any given moment. The more
we can surrender to the process, the less the energies have to “snag” on as they pass by and
through us.
