Past forecasts
O
ctober and November are the peak period of the planetary pattern I’ve been describing
since a year ago July. Now, at its midpoint, we know most of what we’re dealing with.
We can see most of its promise and predicament. Although there is still one more stage in
the process to complete, the essential shape of what that will hold is known to us. In my
observations, October was a mixed bag for everyone I knew. Yes, some (generally tremendous)
good came amidst the stress. Surely we’ve all been learning. I saw some break through lifelong
personal weakness or deeply held fears. Change is the key word, but it is not mandatory. This is a
golden opportunity to shift something really big in your life if you dare to keep going as doubts
and obstacles rise to the surface.
The Scorpio “super-syzygy” brought a relatively unusual 6 planets into this sign at one
time. Just like people clustering at an intersection, once the light turns green they all disperse to
their unique path and pace. Even as the planets disperse, they continue to interact in powerful
ways, making it possible for the actions we’ve taken over the past 15 months to come to fruition.
If there’s any place in your life that you’re feeling stuck, this is where these planets are
being felt in your life. As I have mentioned before, they are bringing to us the sustaining force of
the universe, brought to you in astrology by the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius).
They allow us to establish great things of tremendous stability, if we can dream big enough and
persevere amidst the challenges that arise as we seek to establish ourselves at a new “level”.
The Sustaining Force Pushes Us.
Wherever we are in our life, we tend to feel comfortable at that level, even if only
because it is familiar. What creates that feeling is the “energy” or “vibration” of that reality.
When we try doing something different, we are choosing the step out of that box of familiarity
and into a new vibration. This is part of why it feels so difficult. We are embarking into the
unknown. We don’t know the formulae and strategies for success in the new realm. We are
encountering things we never thought about or knew before. Each time we do, we are tempted to
fall back into old patterns. We may experience self-doubt or feel like giving up. We may pressure
ourselves by placing an unrealistic time table on our endeavors. But underneath it all, we feel
impelled by forces inside to accomplish something. We are imbued with an inspiration to
complete a task that, however seemingly insignificant, is heroic to us. It involves going against
what others tell us is correct and doing it anyway. We hear plenty of, “It will never work,” and
“Quit while you’re ahead,” or “You shouldn’t have done that.”
Somewhere inside we felt a deep longing for something bigger and more meaningful, and
we are goaded forward by that longing. We placed our faith in its success, knowing that it would
not necessarily be an easy accomplishment. Even in the face of improbability, we stepped out on
our faith in inner guidance that we were doing the right thing.
This is a time of great resistance, and it may create a crescendo of self-doubt and
wavering. Of course, as events reflect back to us the consequences of our direction, we adjust;
the challenge is to discern how much to adjust.
The second challenge is to be patient. When Saturn is involved, as it is now, we feel
pressured to respond to others’ time tables. These time tables are usually very real, such as a
deadline for completion of a project or a due date for a payment. Where Saturn is concerned, they
are often “agreements” we have made in which we (feel we) have had little choice or flexibility,
because “it’s the way things are done.” Frequently, a system which requires us to respond on the
spin of a dime feels itself in no hurry to meet our needs as quickly. This is certainly more likely
the case now.
November’s Planetary Tapestry
As the planets cluster and disperse, their paths interweave and create a complex tapestry of
events. Here is their time table, in the context of the planetary events that tie in to them. All of
these planetary events tie in to each other and form one powerful experience for each of us:

Do Your Homework.
To get the most from this period, it will help to do a little homework. Get out your
appointment book or check register to figure out what you were doing on the dates in the table
that have already past. These two records are usually enough to jog your memory. Write down
what you’ve done. Tie related events together to develop a sense of theme. Can you identify a
thread of experiences or process you’re working on? These experiences will tie in to situations
that have developed since July 2005, so look at the big picture.
People, Not Structures
Under this pattern, the world can seem robotic, mechanistic. It can seem as if the
humanity has been removed from our experiences. The challenge is to remember that this is not
so. By focusing on the humanity in each person, you will be more likely to evoke that from them.
When we experience planetary events like these, we can tend to feel isolated and deal with others
as adversaries rather than helpers. It helps to remember that each person is doing the best that
they can.
A General Time Table
The action during November is pretty continuous, as you can see from the table above.
However, the planetary events cluster around two dates, the 8th and the 17th. On the 8th, we have a
relatively rare transit of Mercury across the orb of the Sun. This can be seen with the right
telescope (not the naked eye!), Mercury a tiny figure on the face of the Sun. This adds punch to
Mercury’s usual mid-retrograde conjunction with the Sun. In addition, they are right in the
middle of the fixed planetary pattern for added power and significance. This is the start of the
new 3½-month Mercury cycle.
You are likely to feel a sense of renewal and some forward motion with situations where
action is slow or blocked altogether. Don’t be concerned about taking action now, even though
Mercury is still retrograde — you’re feeling the new cycle and responding to it.
The second “peak” is on the 17th. This could be called “Chickens Come Home to Roost
Day”. There’ll be no more confusion after this date, because everything will be out in the open.
Starting the 23rd, we will be dealing with much more openness (more on that later) and the
consequences of all that truth.
Besides these two times, every weekend in November brings greater intensity — more
activity, drama, challenge, and excitement. The experiences we have in November will not be
completely resolved until December 10.
We Are Still Golden.
Remember the magic of Mercury and Jupiter: When they interact harmoniously, they
create multiple windows of opportunity occurring every day. They have been in a rather
complicated dance together since October 1, co-creating with us a story with many plot twists
and unexpected turns on the path. The good news is that our affairs will turn out much better than
we could ever have anticipated by following the path with heart. We will know how this is likely
to play out by December 10, but there may be continued fortunate experiences for up to a year
following. Watch for signs of what’s to come on December 10 and 25. Here’s a modified version
of what I wrote last month about this planetary tale:
Plans started during October (under the influence of Mercury-Jupiter) appeared to flow
smoothly toward resolution and may have reached a preliminary state of completion around the
22nd. However, new circumstances with a bearing on the situation also emerged that complicated
things but promise greater return or reward at the cost of a delay (with some risk involved).
Around October 28, the situation encountered obstacles, even appearing to be completely lost.
However, for the first three weeks of November, those complications will become resolvable —
in a way that will profoundly alter your life for the better and produce a lasting beneficial change
— in short, the one you’ve been working for! No new complications will appear after November
8, but circumstances will not clear for unfettered forward motion until after the 17th. Then, you
will be able to move ahead rapidly, but your attitude toward or perspective of the situation will
change before it is completely resolved, during the last week of November, on the basis of new
information. Final resolution opens the door to new prospects and higher, yet attainable, goals.
The Rules Remain the Same.
The keys in this are: 1) Don’t give up when you encounter an obstacle; and 2) refuse to
accept a pessimistic “failure-oriented” perspective. Keep a winning (win-win) approach, and
look for the way it can be done, not all the ways it won’t work. Allow yourself to be shown and
guided to the right ingredients, and don’t be rushed or pushed by someone who is in fear.
Moose Tracks
I’ve spoken at length about Jupiter and Saturn’s interaction over the past year. Did you
figure out what you started in 2000 that you were grappling with this year? Now that Jupiter has
finally passed Saturn, we can breathe more easily on this score. We get three years to build on
what we’ve just learned. Related dates are December 16 (2005), June 22, and October 25. Events
tied to these dates can occur even a month before or after, but they are related to reaching your
current life goals.
Are We There Yet?
So, how much longer does this pattern go on? All the planets have moved on except
Saturn and Neptune. They continue to instruct us on the challenges of living by inspiration and
having to decide what to believe in. The coming 8 months will be a turning point in the direction
of modern culture. It is a time when we will be wise to begin turning away from a fossil-fuel-powered life toward clean alternative sources. There will be another oil “shortage” over the
winter and spring.
A Brand New World
On the 23rd, Jupiter enters Sagittarius, and you’ll feel the difference. You’ll feel lighter,
uplifted, freer, and more like expressing your exploratory side. Jupiter rules Sagittarius, and it
loves being there. Just as a famous actor lights up a room when he enters, Jupiter lights up the
entire sign once it makes its ingress. We begin to immediately feel its advance toward Pluto (also
in Sagittarius). This adds power and potential for growth. Great tasks can be accomplished under
this pattern, which will be with us for 13 months.
Set your sights high. Hold a vision of what you want to accomplish and write it down.
Know that this can be done if you are willing to take the steps to accomplish it, even if it takes
longer than you want it to. Because of Pluto’s involvement, our visions will hold great meaning
and tie into our sense of purpose or life direction. This is the time to get in touch with what really
moves you, make it your goal, and move toward that goal.
There’s even more to it: This will bring a culmination of important plans made since
1995. We will experience the fulfillment of these plans over the coming year. To maximize our
results, we must dare to do something we’ve never done before, to explore and inhabit an entirely
unfamiliar world. If you find this exciting, you’ve got the right idea!
Because Jupiter is in rulership, our outcomes will be especially auspicious this year.
Unlike in 2005–06, Jupiter will also be working harmoniously with Saturn. This means that the
obstacles you overcame this past year will provide the foundation for your new direction and
accomplishments.
Truth is the key word. Jupiter in Sagittarius will bring all that is hidden out of the
shadows, with profound, perhaps explosive, consequences. It is a time to tempered and vigilant
in our approach, in spite of the desire to cut quickly to the chase. This may finally open both eyes
and minds to the realities of where we’re headed on this planet at this time, both with respect to
political situations and the health of our planet. This is a chance to learn tolerance and
compassion, although neither is guaranteed.
Waves to Ride
After the 17th, we can use Mercury and Jupiter to create success. Venus and Mars are
usable on the 9th – 10th and 13th – 15th. All month long, the planets in Scorpio get a harmonious boost from Uranus. This means that if we are willing to think innovatively, great benefits will come – healing will occur. Venus-Jupiter on the 15th portends well for love.
What’s Ahead
By December, our perspective will be dramatically changed. This is suggestive of both
cultural and electoral processes. We can look forward to a month relatively free of the disruptive
energies that have opened the doors of change for us for so long. No matter what your long-term
goals or challenges along the way, persevering on your path will create the success you seek.
Don’t give up. May all your changes be fruitful!
